Sutter Animal Services Shelter Adoption Fees
The following are the Sutter Animal Services shelter's adoption fees. You can rescue a pet from the shelter and foster until a permanent home is found by contacting ResQpaws. All fostering is done through ResQpaws, so please don't contact the shelter about our foster pets. Adoption fees for ResQpaws foster pets are different from the shelter's fees. If you'd like to permanently adopt a shelter pet, please contact the shelter. If the cat or dog you adopt from the shelter is not spayed or neutered, you must pay a $40 refundable spay/neuter deposit that you will have mailed back to you in a check once you provide proof of spay/neuter to Sutter Animal Services within 6 months of your pet's adoption.
- Dogs and Puppies: $10 adoption fee, $30 vaccinations fee, $40 refundable spay/neuter deposit if your pet is not altered, and a $15 license fee if you are a Sutter County resident.
- Cats and Kittens: $10 adoption fee, $23 vaccinations fee, and a $40 refundable spay/neuter deposit if your pet is not altered.
- Small Animals (chicken, rabbit, bird, duck, etc.): $10 adoption fee.
- Medium Animals (sheep, lamb, goat, or hog): $40 adoption fee.
- Large Animals (horse, mule, ass, bull, cow, or calf): Auction - minimum bid to be the sum of accrued charges plus advertising costs.
501(c)(3) nonprofit rescues are exempt from adoption fees, but must reimburse the shelter for vaccinations.
The following are our adoption fees for ResQpaws foster pets. All cats and kittens are spayed/neutered before they are adopted out. All of our pets are up to date on their vaccinations.
- Cats and Kittens: $80.00 adoption fee.
- Altered (Spayed/Neutered) Dogs: $100.00 adoption fee.
- Unaltered Dogs: $140.00 adoption fee (includes spay/neuter deposit).*
*If your new family friend is unaltered, you are paying a spay/neuter deposit. Please spay/neuter your animal within 60 days to receive your deposit refund. Send your proof of spay/neuter to info@ResQpaws.org or mail it to the following address to process your refund:

If you live in Sutter County, you can go to the Sutter Animal Services shelter to get a $20.00 off coupon to use toward your pet's spay/neuter cost. You are responsible for licensing your dog in the county in which you live.
