ResQpaws Volunteer Organization's Mission Statement
ResQpaws Volunteer Organization is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, all-volunteer animal rescue group founded in July of 2011 in Yuba City, Northern California. We work to educate the community about responsible pet ownership and to rescue Sutter Animal Services shelter pets, as well as those about to be surrendered, by finding them foster and permanent homes. We do these things because we feel as though we have a calling to help the animals who are left behind, lost, and helpless. We are the voice of the voiceless, the advocates of the abandoned, and the saviors of the forgotten. Without animal advocates like ResQpaws, those animals would suffer and/or be euthanized.
Our volunteers work very hard by networking our pets needing homes, fostering pets temporarily, sponsoring pets financially, donating money or needed items from our Amazon Wish List, transporting pets to fosters or adopters, cleaning our cat area at PetSmart daily, performing home checks for potential foster homes, spending time with pets at the shelter, and handling dogs at our weekly adoption events. However, we cannot function without the immeasurable support we receive from our community. With donations from the public, we can provide food, supplies, medical care, vaccinations, spay/neutering, and transportation for the pets that we rescue. We also would not be able to rescue many of those animals if we did not have foster homes for them to go to while they are spayed/neutered and brought up to date with their vaccinations. Lack of foster homes also greatly limits how we can help the shelter and our community. Since our foster homes are all currently at capacity with pets, we are not able to take in any more shelter or community pets needing homes. Sutter Animal Services is underfunded, understaffed, and overcrowded. With more volunteers and fosters homes, we would be able to save more shelter pets’ lives and we would be able to prevent the desertion of more animals at the shelter.
We have a pet adoption event every Saturday at the Yuba City PetSmart from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM and are happy to help anyone find the type of cat, dog, or rabbit of their preference. Please email info@ResQpaws.org or call (530) 755-2801 if you have any questions about sponsoring a shelter or foster pet, donating, fostering, adopting, or volunteering. “Like” ResQpaws Community Page on Facebook to receive updates and to view some adoptable shelter, foster, and community pets. Please help us reduce the homeless pet population in our community by spaying or neutering your pets and by adopting instead of buying animals.
